Overview: 
Provides SME level consulting and support for SAS tools and technology. 

  • Leads administration and evolution of SAS tools and products. Establishes and executes plans for achieving SAS best practices in the environment and best in class status in the industry.
  • Plans and Manages Administration of SAS Environments, Services and tools that are used to develop, deploy and provide data integration, storage and reporting for departments in various business units.
  • Provides SAS SME level consulting services to architects, developers and analyst community.
  • Develops and initiates strategies to insure SAS software currency in the environment.
  • Initiates plans and manages actions necessary to achieve and maintain optimum SAS platform performance, reliability and availability in serving business analysis needs.
  • Interfaces with business point of contacts in planning setup of applications, support and operational management of the SAS environment.
  • Interfaces with developers and architecture group to provide consultation on SAS software capabilities.

 
Provides technical leadership and technical supervision of subordinates that administer the SAS Enterprise BI environment.

  • Prioritizes, allocates and monitors different work streams.
  • This involves the management and administration of all components comprising the SAS BI Suite of tools.
  • Collaborates closely with the Technical Architect and other project personnel during the design, development and execution phases of a project to plan, configure, support and maintain the service SLA.
  • Manages the metadata security configuration, licensing and the physical installs/location of the servers and services that comprise the environment.
  • Interfaces with storage, server, LDAP, database and other platform engineers/administrators to design solutions for meeting the business needs via SAS platform services and environment.
  • Maintains the organization and security of the objects contained in the SAS repository.
  • Tasks entail establishing and maintaining the user and application areas, managing users, groups and roles and backup and recovery.

 
Drives SAS platform reforms including upgrades, governance processes including security, capacity management and adoption or standards and procedures. Socializes ideas, defines standards and policies and drives education and adoption of the standards.
 
Responsibilities: 
Responsible for meeting/maintaining operational performance and availability of all SAS BI Services, tools and components, at the level necessary to support and sustain BSC s business application needs.Responsible for evolution of the SAS environment in achieving continuous improvement, best practices in the environment and best in class status in the industry.
Manage the entire SAS Business Intelligence platform including design, architecture, build, configuration, through delivery, Provide subject matter expertise on the platform and its tools. Ensure Enterprise license compliance for all adds/changes and support Vendor Management in all negotiations with SAS Institute.
 
20 %: Provide technical leadership to onsite and offshore (staff augmented) SAS Administrators. Define work streams, assign them to team members and coordinate execution and delivery.
 
20 %: Interface with various business departments in understanding their needs. Partner with them for prioritization of tasks and provisioning of capacity and security resources to support business operations. Translate needs in work items. Drive business education on processes.
 
20%: Build and maintain roadmap for the future of the SAS BI platform and provide IT and business with the latest SAS products, best practices and methods to achieve continuous improvement in the environment.
 
10%: Govern the usage of SAS environment. Establish and maintain monitoring of the environment.
 
10%: Provide Level 3 issue resolution support related to user issues, software bugs and performance bottlenecks for SAS incidents. Leverage and manage SAS Technical Support to drive difficult issues to resolution. 
 
10 %: Define infrastructure requirements such as storage, computing, LDAP, network needs and work with Infrastructure Engineering to design and implement solution.
 
Qualifications:
 
Minimum: Bachelors Degree in Engineering or closely related field (comp science, computer systems.)
Preferred: Masters Degree in Engineering or closely related field Base SAS Certification Advanced S AS Certification Preferred: SAS B I Administration 10 years of total IT experience.

  • 2 years of development experience with base SAS and macros.
  • 5 years of development experience in SAS BI 9.x platform using metadata libraries, cubes, information maps, Web rep ort studio, Information maps, stored processes, dashboards and SAS Portal.
  • 5 years of latest experience in administration including installation and configuration of SAS in large deployments.
  • 1 year of technical leadership role
  • Experience in a technical leadership role responsible for management of SAS environment within an organization.
  • Strong understanding and experience of reporting and analysis including data models, OLAP cubes (MDX), ROLAP, semantic layer (Information maps), web reporting (Stored process and web report studio), office plug-ins, SAS BI dashboards, SAS Portal , metadata queries and SAS procedures.
  • Experience in development of SAS 9.3 platform with a firm understanding of ETL, Databases and reporting concepts.
  • Usage understanding of various databases and database platforms including Oracle, SQL server, Netezza (preferred). Understanding of interfaces and in-database techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of the enterprise service management ITIL processes (Service, Incidents, Changes, Configuration items).
  • Organizational skills of managing work (delegation and delivery) using metrics. Mass communication and customer service management.
  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure including different flavors of Linux and UNIX, storage, security and networks is highly desired.
  • Strong SAS and UNIX scripting skills as applied to administrative tasks
