Summary:
· Infrastructure and Microservices Automation Developer ! ARCHITECTURE ENGINEERING!
· ArchEng is a new infrastructure and software development group within Monsanto's global architecture function.
· Our mission is to evaluate, bring in, automate and evangelize the components of a modern cloud application architecture to support the myriad IT organizations within the premier Agro-biotechnology and IoT company in the world. "
· As an automation developer in ArchEng, you will exercise your talents and expand our experience to include: containerized deployments, Functional Programming and higherorder automation, distributed databases and a variety of NoSQL paradigms, Amazon Web Services (AWS), microservices, and big data analytics tools from Hadoop to Samza. "
· We practice Agile and value your creative input and solutions to complex problems.
REQUIRED SKILLS!
· Applicants must have: experience in OS X and/or *NIX, strong OO skills in encapsulation and polymorphism as well as strong FP skills, a strong grasp of algorithmic complexity, experience with concurrency and/or distributed systems, and the ability to dissect problems in an unfamiliar and evolving domain.
· You should practice TDD, Agile, continuous integration, and be comfortable with continuous deployment.
· You must also have prior experience developing services, modeling in REST vs RPC, and both NoSQL and traditional RDBMS's.
· You must be extremely well versed in at least one OO language {Scala, Java, C++, Smalltalk, Ruby, ...}, at least one FP language {Scala, Erlang, SML, Haskell, Prolog, Lisp, Clojure, ...}, and at least one strongly typed language {Scala, C++, Java, F#, ...}.
· Languages may overlap multiple categories to satisfy the requirement. "
· Prior experience with AWS, Docker/Containers, Scala, and Actors preferred. " !
RESPONSIBILITIES!
· We are building a platform of Open Source and SaaS tools to enable product teams to rapidly develop and deploy microservice-based application topologies in the cloud.
· You will contribute to tools, services, and advanced libraries to automate project creation, testing, QA, deployment, monitoring, self-healing, auto-scaling, and governance of these microservices.
· Development will be in Scala on OS X and in AWS.
· You will make significant use of type-level constraints, type classes, monadic database interactions, and immutability at both the application and server deployment levels.
· You will also mentor application developers from product teams in the use and evolution of these tools to best enable their rapid delivery of business functionality.
