[11646MSCRMCV] Urgent Opening for TFS Administrator , Cleveland | OH |

Hi ,

Hope you are doing great.

Please go through the following job Description and share your resume.

Title : TFS Administrator

Location : Cleveland | OH |

Duration : 8+ Months contract

Job Description :

The Team Foundation Server (TFS) 2012 project under the Infrastructure Operations Continuous Delivery (IOCD) program has an exciting opportunity for two senior-level programmers. The migration of clients distributed source-code from TFS 2008 to TFS 2012 is nearing completion. This portion of the project reintroduced mainstream vendor support. In addition to the migration, the project will also re-organize and separate the non-operational code footprint to better enable future analysis of quality. This is the portion of the project that now needs help.

Project Assignment: This resource will make updates to the build and elevate scripts to point to the new TFS collection and project path. This will involve utilizing an in-house scripting language called ProScript which has similar characteristics as C#.Net. This resource will also be synchronizing source-code between two TFS 2012 environments for the re-organization. They will also need to be able to coordinate the changes with the application SMEs, so strong communication and collaboration skills are required.

The first paragraph laying out the scope of the project may elude to this being more of a TFS Admin role, but the second paragraph lays out pretty well what they will be doing which is not TFS Admin related.

The first two sentences of the second paragraph define the majority of the work these people will likely be doing….. "This resource will make updates to the build and elevate scripts to point to the new TFS collection and project path. This will involve utilizing an in-house scripting language called ProScript which has similar characteristics as C#.Net."

The synchronization of source code may sound like TFS Admin work, but it really isn't. The tool used to sync the source code is an in-house developed tool that requires monitoring and potentially the ability to identify issues during the synchronization. This is a critical and risky part of our migration and will only be run by developers that we feel are technical and have a strong attention to detail.

The communication skills will be important because we will be re-organizing source code in a different file structure than exists today. We will likely need our developers to be able to communicate with our Platform developers to understand the impact of restructuring the source code.

Maybe to summarize, the TFS Admin portion of this project is close to being complete. The infrastructure is setup and defining security is close to being done. At that point TFS is really just repository that stores the source code (that may be simplifying it a little). The real work from these people will be in updating the scripts that reference TFS. Having an understanding of source code and development methodology will come into play as these people begin to run the sync tool (re-organize in new folder structure) and communicate with developers to understand potential impact.
