Position: Senior Oracle or Mongo Database Administrator
Locations: Newport Beach, CA
Duration: 12 Months Contract.
Description:
The PIMCO database team is looking for a Senior Mongo/Oracle database administrator, to work in a fast paced environment, providing both production & development support. This position will work closely with various development groups across the firm, and should demonstrate his/her ability as a technical expert on the team
Skills/Qualifications:· 4+ years' of production experience Mongo DB and other database concepts.
· 10+ years' experience as a DBA.
· 10+ years' of database development support, and SQL tuning.
· 8+ years' of Oracle DBA experience, including 11g/12c, RAC, Data Guard.
· 4+ years' of Linux experience.
· Experience with SQL Server, Sybase ASE, IQ, Times Ten is a plus.
· Strong scripting abilities.
· Experience with large, high volume, mission critical environments.
· Good communication skills. Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills.
· Good interpersonal skills; able to build consensus and work closely with fellow DBA's.
· Train and mentor DBA team members as needed.
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Management Information Systems, or equivalent.
Duties:
· Provide production support, solutions and expertise for Mongo & Oracle.
· Ability to support SQL Server & TimesTen.
· Ability to troubleshoot difficult production issues quickly.
· Build and maintain mission critical MongoDB clusters as required. Understand sharded clusters, HA/DR strategies.
· Automate routine tasks with scripts wherever possible.
· Work closely with various development teams across the firm to ensure proper use of Mongo/Oracle features, best practices, and adherence to PIMCO database standards.
· Participate in the DBA team on call rotation.
· Tune complex Oracle SQL proactively & reactively as required. Be able to rewrite SQL queries where necessary.
· Bring both relational and non-relational expertise to help build and maintain various data stores.
· Handle your share of DBA tickets, user requests, routine support and maintenance.
· Ability to work off hours / weekends as required.
