Senior Systems Analyst
Location Ft Worth (Dallas) TX
Duration: 3 months

Job Description 
  • This position is part of the exciting, dynamic and diverse IT team supporting the Flight and Legal departments within the Operations Technology (OT) organization. 
  • The successful candidate will work as a liaison with the teams developing and delivering software for the supported business units. These may be "internal" development teams, or external parties such as HP or other providers. They will also coordinate with vendors providing COTS and ASP solutions. 
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the business unit, project managers, business analysts, developers, architects, QA testers, technology providers, vendors, and other application teams to clearly define technical requirements and to achieve project goals. 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Defining technical specifications for the development and delivery teams to take a solution architecture to the more detailed design level and providing a sufficient level of detail to build the system 
  • Become educated in the technical details of the current systems in the Flight and Legal departments and become a technical subject matter expert on these systems 
  • Assist other team members in scoping out solutions and estimating tasks and resource requirements for the project managers and business units 
  • Work with the supporting solution architect to define technical strategies for the team which will include getting the systems on up-to-date versions of hardware and software. It will also include the replacement of the current suite of training systems with a new end to end training solution. 
  • Coordinate with the software development teams and software vendors to make sure appropriate SDLC steps are being followed. Ensure source control and change management procedures are established and followed. 
  • Supports team by assisting with: functionality questions, testing, implementation, and other deployment and delivery functions, as assigned 
  • Work with the Project Manager to identify project risks and develop contingency plans  
Required Skill and Experience 
  • Must have systems analysis experience on large IT systems and projects 
  • The candidate should have a background in software development and delivery and be able to consult and coordinate with development teams at the code level 
  • Hands-on development experience in some of the following required: 
  • IBM Websphere, IIS, tomcat; J2EE – Web Services, JMS, EJB, Servlets, JNDI; 
  • .Net Frameworks: C#,ASP,VB, Silverlight, .Net Compact Framework, ADO .NET, NHibernate, Entity Framework; 
  • Java frameworks: Java, Swing, Servlet, EJB, Spring Framework, Hibernate; 
  • Must have experience working in with Agile delivery teams and following Agile methodologies 
  • Must be well organized, thrive in a "sense-of-urgency" environment, leverage best practices, and most importantly, innovate through any problem with a can-do attitude 
  • Must be able to learn new environments quickly, and have strong problem solving skills. 
  • Working knowledge of tools such as Visio, SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint along with change management tools etc. 
  • Highly motivated with positive attitude, team player, and self-starter 
  • Must be able to interact effectively across departments and with all levels of management 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously 
Desired Skill and Experience 
  • Preference will be given to candidates with the following: 
  • Airline industry experience, particularly in Flight operations, training and administration 
Education 
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or Business; or two-year technical degree and/or relevant experience.


Network Engineer V (10+ Years)
Location Ft Worth (Dallas) TX
Duration: 5 months

Responsible for engineering and implementation of network management services technologies across the LAN/WAN and ensure they are properly supported in production. Act as a networking expert and resource for peers and management inside American. Apply application performance monitoring technology to reduce network engineering & operational costs and improve reliability and productivity. Participate in testing and the documentation of network services support technologies. Assist in developing communication strategies and communication standards for the enterprise. Consult with clients to advise them of potential network management services solutions and avenues for deployment. 

Additional Responsibilities: 
  • WAN simulation & engineering

  • Familiar with Network Performance Management systems including network & application traffic capture probes 
  • Refine/Evolve operation standards, processes, and procedures 
  • Perform situation analysis and recommendation for problem solving 
  • Recommend appropriate courses of action to developers/technicians and management on application deployment issues on the network 
  • Identify performance issues and recommend performance recommendations 
  • Provide hardening solutions and drive efforts around it 
  • Manage / monitor operational tools 
Skills/Knowledge 
  • Experience with one or more Opnet suite of tools in the areas of: 
  • ACE Live – Business group development, setting alarm conditions and notifications, reporting, customizing dashboards 
  • nCompass – Development of dashboard, running analysis, configuring event alarm and notifications, reporting 
  • IT Sentinel – Auditing 5000+ node networks. Automating scheduled task such as network standards and PCI compliance and network drawings. 
  • IT Guru Network Planner – Build and run flow analyses and DES simulation. Troubleshoot network and application performance issues. 
  • ACE Analysis – Trace analysis, identifying problem areas, and reporting. 
  • VNE Server – Importing network objects via automation tools and manual imports. Troubleshooting and optimizing database. Running weekly and monthly reports 
  • Strong knowledge of information systems and operational processes 
  • Strong working knowledge in troubleshooting network related issues, routers, L2/L3 switches. Also have a good understanding of network protocols (Ethernet, TCP/IP, SNMP, VLAN Trunking), routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, RIP), network technologies, and LAN technologies (SPT, ARP). 
  • Good understanding of QoS, and policy-based routing with Cisco and HP equipment. 
  • Able to troubleshoot production related issues with Tier 4 support teams. 
  • Demonstrate technical problem solving skills, have strong presentation and analytical skills, and possess a strong desire to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to interact and with teams across multiple platforms and in varying environments 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Participate in both technical and non-technical discussions. 
Qualifications: 
  • B.S. with Networking experience 
  • CCNP or equivalent knowledge. 
  • Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Word 
  • Basic knowledge level of Microsoft Excel 
  • Ability to work well in a team environment 
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals 
  • Ability to interact effectively with employees and vendors with various skill sets and backgrounds 
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to support problem solving initiatives 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Self-starter with a high level of initiative 
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, flexible, work well under pressure 
  • Lead both technical and non-technical discussions. 
  • Proven ability to build and facilitate relationships at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally. 
  • Commitment to system functionality and user satisfaction in rapidly growing and changing environments
