Job title: Hadoop Engineer/Admin

Location: Rockville, MD

Duration : Long Term

 

Members of the FINRA's Big Data and Cloud Engineering group support FINRA's applications and development teams by providing design, configuration, and operational expertise. FINRA is engaged in a major initiative to migrate and redesign its Market Regulation systems using cloud technologies. The position provides significant exposure to leading edge cloud and big data technologies on systems scaling to petabytes of data.

Responsibilities:

· Provide expertise and delivery in a cloud environment(AWS)
· Install, configure, and maintain several Hadoop clusters within the organization
 · Apply operation expertise to identify and evaluate solutions
 · Collaborate with Agile team in planning, developing, implementing, and supporting new or existing applications
 · Maintenance of legacy systems (Greenplum, Netezza) until completion of cloud migration
 · Automate deployment and operations tasks

Qualifications: · 1+ year experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, EMR, IAM, Redshift, RDS, Cloudwatch)
 · 3+ years extensive experience in Hadoop ecosystem including HDFS, YARN, MapReduce2, HBase, Hive, Spark is required
· Experience with database administration (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
· Experience working both independently and collaboratively to solve problems and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment
· Hands on experience with automation tools such as Puppet is a plus
 · Proficiency with scripting languages (Shell, Python, Ruby, Javascript, Java)
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Strong multi-tasking skills
· Experience participating in technical design, test strategy, and system test execution
· Self-starter who is excited about learning new technology
