Miguel. Thanks for bringing everyone together. I’ll be there for at least an hour. Need to be at the Methodist church at 7:30.

Dear Friends on PBJ!
Salma from Morocco enjoys drama and singing in choir. She is an only child
and is thrilled to be a finalist in the YES program of the U.S. State
Dept. so that she can experience another culture--and be part of an
American family. Eventually she would like to study medicine and become a
doctor--although she is also interested in architecture. In addition to
Arabic and English, Salma is also fluent in French having studied languages
since 2nd grade. Her father teaches Arabic and her mother is a homemaker.
Please take a look at her profile below and give me a call if you would
like to know more about hosting.
Lusine from Armenia is a singer. She writes music and belongs to a band
that has won some contests in her hometown. In addition to music, Lucy is
interested in becoming a constitutional lawyer. In the past few years she
has had an opportunity to spend short periods of time away from home.
Sports are also a favorite as she swims and plays tennis. Lucy presents
herself as a positive person, who overcomes difficult or challenging
situations through positive thoughts and energy. She is a finalist on the
U.S. State Dept Merit Scholarship FLEX Program bringing students from
countries of the former Soviet Union to the U.S. each year.
The students receive a monthly stipend, have addition funds to meet school
expenses, health insurance, and bring enthusiasm and a desire to be an
ambassador. Host families can be any size or age--with or without
children. The students attend the local public high school. As a Local
Coordinator for the past 4 years, and a host parent for 3 different
students, I am happy to talk with you more about hosting.
Blessings,
Sue

I haven't heard back from some of you and I need a count, because we will have snacks and drinks:
I am trying to gather as many representatives as possible from the various organizations, and even individuals not affiliated with any groups to come to a Thursday June 14, 2012 meeting at 6:00 pm at First Congregational Church of Winter Park. If you can't make it, we will have access to a conference call-in number.
The purpose is two fold: (1) to get the groups to find out where and how they can get resources and information from one another to avoid duplication of efforts. (2) to meet with Israel Valerdi, Leadership Development Specialist from FOCUS, to discuss a call to action for the poor that affects most groups on PBJFlorida. He has been successful in Colorado and now that he is with us in Florida, he would like to reach as many groups as possible.
If you can't come personally, please send a representative or call-in. A conference number will be provided soon.
Please join me. Snacks will be provided.

Thanks!
