Position:  Oracle Sql/Pl-Sql with Perl Developer

Location : Andover, MA

Duration: 6+ month contract

 

Position Summary: The Senior Software Engineer (SE) develops sub-systems and modules for document and data infrastructures/applications under the direction of the Director of Engineering, backend systems. The SE will be responsible for developing and delivering critical new infrastructure/application components and troubleshooting and maintaining existing infrastructure/applications. The SE must be skillful in the art of object-oriented programming, with experience in Oracle SQL & PL/SQL, Perl scripting, and backend system development. 

 

General Responsibilities:      

• Develops, tests, debugs and implements code for existing and/or proposed business applications and/or computer systems.

• Assists the QA team in assessing testability of the system

• Provides diagnosis and troubleshooting of system issues

• Participates in design and code reviews

• Assists in procedural and code documentation for assigned projects.

• Completes assigned project work with limited supervision

• Has exposure to most or all phases of application development

• Has demonstrated knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and specific programming languages.

 

Day-to-day activities:

Works with architect and senior engineer in scheduling backend jobs Implements objects, components, and scripts under the direction of architect and/or senior engineers

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree  in Computer science or electrical engineering

• Length of experience:   5-7 years

• Specialized skills: Oracle 10g or higher database, Perl scripting, and Job scheduling

 

Type of experience:

• 6+ years in software development including recent system design experience

• 4+ years using Perl scripting including creating new Perl scripts

• 5+ years database design and development (Oracle 10g or higher)

• Experience in scheduling automated jobs

• Experience in writing technical specifications

• Experience in troubleshooting production applications
