Thanks for passing this along. I will show it to my students as well and to my FOWR board members. It is an excellent example of artistic imagination with a profound effect in a short time. The real science of it all should probably be in an accompanying link, not quite so brief and dramatic.

This is not from simply "throwing things into the sea". The Pacific trash vortex (or vortices, I've seen it both ways) is/are the result not merely of ocean dumping (maybe mostly by ships?) but also perhaps primarily land run-off, probably some even from "regulated" landfills....
