Role : Hadoop technical lead (not a developer position)
Location : Peoria, IL
Duration : 12 months
Description :
This person is not going to be doing development. This person will be the liaison between the Hadoop support team and the development team. They will be responsible for identifying root causes, trends, problems and incidents with the code/data and then partnering with the development team to address these issues. Previously, the developers functioned in both the developer and support role and would stop coding to address these problems/incidents, resulting in missing development deadlines. Please note, the person needs to have functioned in a similar role; I am not looking for a hard core developer.
He should have experience in incident solving, , root cause analysis , Code review.
Top Three Skills:
- 1. 5+ Years of Application development and support, Integration development or data management experience
- 2. Experience with database modeling and development
- 3. Experience with Hadoop ecosystem (Oozie, Hive, Impala, Spark, Kerberos, KAFKA, etc)
Job Description:
- Support DDSW on Caterpillar's new Hadoop platform includes identifying, communicating and resolving data integration and consumption issues
- Manage the ongoing data warehouse performance & service availability
- Provide Hadoop Technical support to an existing 24x5 support team providing global support (located in Peoria and India)
- Assist support team with resolving issues in a data ingestion solution developed on Hadoop platform
- Drive Root Cause Analysis and Problem Management processes
- Work with other application teams to investigate issues and root cause
- Work with infrastructure teams to investigate issues and root cause
Experience:
- Proven experience in designing and implementing robust highly available IT solutions
Strong troubleshooting and analytic skills
- Experience with incident management and problem management process (ITSM) discipline
- Proven experience with introducing new technologies and ideas into development/support practices.
- Experience with Java, Python, or other scripting languages
- Experience with RESTful Web Services
- Experience with data integration
- technologies (e.g. Data Stage,)
- Experience with GIT code management tool or another other comparable tool
