Title: LabVIEW Consultant / Software Developer

Locations: Tarrytown, NY

Duration: 6 Months

 

Description: Performs complex design, maintenance, enhancement, testing, implementation, and support of software.
Completes the development of software test requirements for complex modules under development, executes complex test specifications.
Completes estimates for complex modules under development, and estimates own work.
Performs reviews of complex customers' standards specification and other documentation to determine software engineering requirements.
Performs presentations of complex technical findings and developments.
Completes the software quality process through the execution of complex module, subsystem and system test procedures.
Seeking an engineer with experience developing software to test and control electro-mechanical sub-assemblies.
Each sub-assembly is made up of several CAN (controller area network) modules used to drive stepper or servo motors.
The motors are used to position mechanisms (arms, rings, and shuttles) that contain patient samples used in diagnostic testing.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in LabVIEW development with data acquisition and process control hardware.
The candidate will also need to alternate between interfacing with hardware directly (CAN, USB, PCI, etc) or indirectly with external instrument software via a COM objects, ActiveX, or over TCP.

Required Software Experience:

LabVIEW to interface with external hardware (CAN, RS232, USB, PCI, TCP, etc)

LabVIEW Design Patterns (Queued State Machine & Even-Driven Producer/Consumer)

Development of LabVIEW libraries based on vendor provided APIs and documentation

Experience with LabVIEW version 8.2 or greater

Preferred Software Experience:

LabVIEW for calling external code (dll, COM objects, ActiveX, .NET, etc)

Translation of source code from various languages (VB, C, C++, C#, Python) into LabVIEW code

Calling VIs dynamically

Experience with LabVIEW version 2012 or greater

CAN open experience

 

Required Education & Experience Level:

BS in Engineering

3-5 years of industry experience

Preferred Certifications:

CLAD (Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer) or CLD (Certified LabVIEW Developer)
