CATEGORY TECHNOLOGY SKILL DESCRIPTION VERSION IMPORTANCE NOTE
• Business Intelligence - Basic knowledge and understanding of business intelligence and data warehousing concepts
• Understanding of why organizations need business intelligence, the role of the data warehouse, and an understanding of data warehousing concepts such as star schema data modeling & dimension handling
• Passion & Initiative An excitement about working with data along with the quality of being self-directed, solving problems, and Providing recommendations even when not required to do so
• Speaking to people who supervised the candidate can provide insights into the candidate's working style & reliability.
• The ability to speak and understand English
• The ability to write documentation in English
Note: This person will be developing documentation for others to follow.
• The ability to understand the business and technical requirements of a system and design architecture to satisfy those requirements
• Ability to develop and debug DataStage code
Note: Client will likely use DataStage, An in-depth knowledge of DataStage is not as critical as a strong understanding of ETL concepts and tools in general (i.e. A strong understanding of Informatica could fulfill this requirement).
• Database Oracle General Knowledge Basic familiarity with the Oracle RDBMS
Note: Knowledge of what Oracle does and how it works in data warehouse environments as well as how it stacks up competitively in the industry.
• Business Intelligence MicroStrategy Report Development
• Ability to design reports and analyses using MicroStrategy
Note: Hands-on MicroStrategy is not as critical as is a strong understanding of BI tools, how they operate, and how they are positioned in the overall BI marketplace.
• Data architecture / data modeling Star schema modeling
• Ability to create data models in de-normalized, star schema format.
Note: This is not a data modeling role. However, this architect must have a strong understanding of data modeling concepts to enable interactions with the project's data architect.
• Industry knowledge Utilities (Electric)
• Knowledge of the segments in the electricity industry (generation, transmission, distribution) and how the Business operates
