Description: Under general direction, provide application platform support for large scale systems and high profile, demanding IT projects. Primarily responsible for PeopleSoft upgrade of FSCM and Peopletools, Weblogic web server and PeopleSoft application configurations that acheive established availability, performance, integrity, security and schedule objectives. Position will install and maintain web platform, application and related software; create, monitor, troubleshoot, tune, upgrade and patch (leveraging PUM and DPK); partner with application developers, database, server and storage administrators to implement application platform integration; propose new or enhanced technical processes and procedures. Embrace and practice established ITSM processes and operational standards, including University database and server security standards. Regular business hours and some evening/weekend oncall rotation and project golive implementation efforts are required.

Required:

Senior Application Developer

HCM Disaster Recovery Lead
Location: Oakland, CA

OVERVIEW:
Support changes required to the existing payroll interface process (PIP) and demographic processing (DEM/UCNetid) to react to various triggers.  The candidate will aid in the design of the overarching solution to react to the triggers and be responsible for implementing changes to 50+ batch jobs. Advanced Unix shell scripting, Sybase SQL, Sybase stored procedures and native Sybase functions and the ability to methodically test and troubleshoot issues in a highly complex environment.  Knowledgeable in Java, PERL and IBM Data Stage
 
Position Summary      
The UCPath Disaster Recovery Lead is responsible for developing and managing disaster recovery activities for the UCPath Integrated Technology Platform. The DR Lead, working with the UCPath System Integration team, will identify disaster recovery requirements and define and implement a framework that ensures those requirements are met.  Duties of this position include the following:
 
  • In collaboration with Information Technology Services (ITS), Oracle Managed Cloud Services, Shared Services Operations, HCM project functional and technical leads, and 3rd Party Benefits and Payroll Providers, lead the development of the UCPath Disaster Recovery (DR) Plans that  include:        
  • An inventory of systems and applications, with hardware, software, and network requirements, as well as inter-system dependencies clearly identified for DR purposes
  • Sequence and timings for recovery of each system based on business criticality and underlying system dependencies
  • Detailed disaster scenarios and associated testing exercises
  • Deployment plans, application guides, and exercise documentation
  • Disaster recovery policies and procedures
  • Lead disaster recovery tests in collaboration with all key constituents business partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all levels of management to ensure that infrastructure and services are enabled to support disaster recovery requirements.
  • Establish and institutionalize strong post-exercise retrospective process.
  • Maintain and update of DR plan, guidelines and procedures and associated artifacts.
Leadership Skills
  • Significant hands-on and technical managerial experience.
  • Excellent technical project management skills, responsible to drive business discussion independently, provide status reports, presentations, and general communication related to any DR activities. Ability to plan and set strategic direction for the team.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, as well as written and oral communication skills.

Required Qualifications
  • Detailed understanding of Disaster Recovery Planning/Business Continuity Planning processes, procedures and terminologies.
  • 5 years practical experience in DR exercise planning, coordination and execution.
  • Minimum 3 years in technical project management roles with demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion.
  • Combined 5-10 years of experience in Database Support, Systems Engineering, Data Center/Computer Operations and/or Applications Development.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Must be fluent in IT terminology across a wide variety of systems/layers.
  • Must be able to generate and provide statistical view of success rate for all DR/BCP projects and functions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • DRP/BCP (CBCP) and Security Certification (CISSP/CISM/CISA/GSEC) is preferred.
  • Experience working with cloud-based service providers e.g. PaaS, SaaS, ASPs, etc.
  • Experience implementing or supporting HCM systems
