{PBJFlorida} Fwd: Nico ... FW: 5,000 letters delivered to Kangaroo, Holman still refuses to visit the fields. Can you give him a call today?

September 6, 2012

Dear friend of tobacco farmworkers,

*Last week, you and over 5,000* *others sent emails and signed our petition to Kangaroo COB Holman* asking him to visit the fields with FLOC to talk with farmworkers and see the conditions they live and work in with his own eyes. Read more about the Kangaroo campaign [ http://www.supportfloc.org/Pages/TakeAction_ThePantry.aspx ]

*On Labor Day, we delivered your letter to a Kangaroo store in Charlotte.* Farmworkers and allies stood together and delivered the 5,000 letters as Leonardo, who works in the tobacco fields, explained to the manager on duty what his work is like. "We have to work long days, and the chemicals get stuck on our hands. We get tired and sometimes we get nauseous."

*Yesterday, we delivered your letter again *to another store in Georgetown, SC, with delegates from the SC AFL-CIO convention.

*Well it worked. Right after we delivered the letters in SC, we got a call from Kangaroo. *Holman is refusing to come to the fields, and Kangaroo reiterated that they've done all they can do. But this isn't good enough, we know Kangaroo can do more.

*Can you take a minute to call Holman and tell him to stand for justice for tobacco farmworkers?*

Here's a sample message: "My name is ___________________. I am a consumer and I'm calling to urge Kangaroo Chairman Ed Holman to visit the tobacco fields with FLOC."

It's that simple! Call 919-774-6700, and ask to speak with Ed Holman. When you are transferred to a secretary or voice mail say that this is a message for Kangaroo Chairman Ed Holman. They may ask for your phone number. Then email us at flocnc@floc.com or call us at 919-731-4433 to let us know you made the call!

You can also post the message on Kangaroo's facebook wall [ https://www.facebook.com/KangarooExpress ], or tweet them at the messages at @krooexpress.

*We want to get as many messages as we can to his office by 5pm on Friday, September 7! *

Thanks for taking action and for your continued support of this campaign.

*Hasta la Victoria!*
