Position: IOS DEVELOPER
Duration: LONG TERM CONTRACT
Location: NYC
Skillsets:
Very strong Objective-C
Debugging / Testing (and use of Instruments).
Familiarity with various versions of iOS and differences between them (ie: ARC, etc).
Solid understanding of Xcode, projects and the building and signing process.
Solid understanding of iOS APIs and common Apple/iOS design patterns.
The ideal candidate for an iOS position will not only have a strong base in computer science, but will also be very strong with iOS in particular. Many candidates have knowledge of iOS and could, without a doubt, write code for iOS -- but there is a difference in someone who can write code and who is passionate about the platform and its capabilities. It's ok to not have complete coverage or in-depth knowledge of every API, but there should be some depth in some areas that indicates extensive experience with something. This would ideally be combined with a desire to drive product quality with enterprise level architecture and designs -- such as understanding how decisions are both driven by and affect the enterprise.
At a minimum, the candidate should not only be extremely familiar with many aspects of the iOS development environment (IDE, SDK, Xcode, ARC or iOS in general) but understand how these can be levereged and be open, willing and eager to try new tools, technologies and processes. It is also a huge benefit if the candidate is comfortable in a culture of a fast and dynamic workplace where it helps to be self-driven.
