Sr. Functional Analyst (9 yrs exp in SQL)

SQL Knowledge is critical
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prior experience as a mid-level experience developer is very important
- SQL Knowledge (read and write)
- Microsoft Analysis Services (OLAP) knowledge
- Reporting tools - Business Objects preferred
- Prior experience as a Technical Project Manager with Functional Analyst background is very good thave
- Act as a liaison between business analysts, project management, solution architects and development teams, and shepherd projects through the design, build, and test phases.
- Translate business requirements and business intelligence reporting requirements intfunctional/technical specification or source system analysis documents.
- Provide input from high-level tdetailed estimates for intake, projects, and change requests in areas of responsibility.
- Create technical impact assessments utilizing input and direction from business analyst, architects, development and supporting documentation such as functional specifications and use cases.
- Perform proactive Data Profiling tensure source system data requirements in the project deliverables.
- Assist project tfind alternative solutions for the source data where appropriate.
- Provide analysis support tdevelopment and test teams for assigned projects. This can include responding tad hoc analysis requests and collaborating with test resources tvalidate test cases, defect triage and resolution.
- Generally demonstrate knowledge of application systems in area of responsibility tidentify, evaluate and define impacts of changes. Provide alternatives both tthe application changing and all upstream and downstream systems, or identify if a change is a manual process taking intaccount the entire picture as well as the details.
- Work effectively with teammates and raise issues tmanagement with appropriate frequency and urgency.
- Train others on new technologies and platforms, where appropriate.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills tproduce clear and unambiguous deliverables.
- Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take initiative tdetermine the need and tdesign and deliver training tdepartment and business.
- Initiates and executes initiatives timprove the processes, procedures, and tools utilized by the team.
- Reviews deliverables and provides input for other analysts.
- Creates and delivers articulate and effective oral presentations ta variety of audiences, large or small, internal or external.
- Readily transfers knowledge within the team and company by taking the initiative tidentify opportunities.
- Coordinates with production support on system enhancements and provide ongoing operating support.
- Researches production issues and supports the Application Support group as needed.
- Regularly conveys status tstakeholders and management.

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Experience writing Functional Specifications Documents (FSD)
- Very good working knowledge of Perl, UML, and Unix.

- Capable of quickly learning new systems.
- Understand issues and escalate tmanagement.
- Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Full understanding of business process and system modeling tools including: Data Flow Diagrams, Process Models, ER diagrams, Dimensional Data Models, Context Models, Event Modeling, State Modeling, Process decomposition, and Use Case Scenarios are required.
- Understand the system development life cycle and can train others on SDLC concepts Ability teffectively manage time, prioritize work, multi-task across many assignments and delegate tothers as well as monitor their work for completion.
- Ability tassess the impact of new requirements on an existing suite of complex applications.
- Technical writing skills producing clear and unambiguous deliverables.
- Experience in logical and physical database design and implementation.
- Experience using data warehouse or analytic tools for business purposes.
- Experience in writing SQL and understanding of ETL Development Tools.
- Experience with ad-hoc query development (Crystal Reports, Business Objects, SAS, or other).
- Ability tprovide quality and accurate deliverables.
- Ability trecommend appropriate scope of requirements for small efforts.
- Knowledge of key data warehousing or business intelligence methodologies.
- Ability trecommend appropriate scope of requirements.
- Ability tunderstand and apply system/desktop tools.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in systems analysis of medium tlarge scale projects Minimum of 8 years of strong working experience with SQL.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in multiple functional areas such as Accounting, BI Data Warehousing, Billing, Business Objects, and SAP.
- Working experience with Databases such as Oracle, TeraData, and ETL Tool Informatica.
- Experience with data analysis in wireless business systems preferred.
- Experience with supporting both purchased and in-house developed applications require
- Application Development background is a plus. This is technically focused position and generally seen as a progression from a development or business analyst or solution architect role
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or information systems management
