Position: Java w/RESTful Web Services
Location: Richmond, VA
Duration: 12+ Months
MOI : F2F
Responsibilities:
§ Design software applications as a suite of independently deployable services.
§ Design clean RESTful APIs guided by the single responsibility principle
§ Develop highly-scalable, fault-tolerant web applications
§ Support fast iteration through complete cycle automation and test driven development
§ Possess the aptitude and eagerness to learn and try new technology or practices and help adoption
§ Conduct design and code reviews to ensure compliance with conventions and best practises
§ Estimate level of effort to develop code to meet acceptance criteria
§ Ensure adherence to continuous improvement practices as required to meet quality / time to market imperatives
§ Provide 3rd level support of software solution as needed, including after hours
§ Act as a change agent improving software craftsmanship and driving innovation
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
§ Bachelor degree in Computer Science or similar degree
§ Experience building microservices
§ Hands on experience developing cloud native applications on AWS (using services such as EC2, RDS, ELB etc)
§ Good understanding on the twelve-factor app methodology for building software-as-a-service apps
§ Expert-level abilities in Core Java, J2SE, Spring, HTML, jQuery, CSS, and JavaScript
§ Proficiency with modern relational databases (SQL Server, Sybase) and database development using T-SQL
§ Experience with build process and tools such as Git, Maven, Jenkins, Chef and other continuous integration tools
§ Experience with automated build pipeline, continuous integration and continuous deployment (including test automation)
§ Proven experience with SOA, design patterns, web services technologies, and UI design
§ Proven track record of delivering quality, mission critical, enterprise systems
§ Strong working knowledge of web servers (IIS, Tomcat etc.)
§ Strong communication and organizational skills
§ Familiarity with Agile engineering practices
Preferred Qualifications:
§ Good understanding on virtualization and container technology (Docker, VirtualBox).
§ Familiarity with NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) and messaging frameworks
§ 12+ year's experience with Enterprise application design and construction with an emphasis on web architectures
§ 7+ year's experience in SOA environments working with SOAP and/or RESTful web services
