Asalamu alaikum, dear brothers and sisters in Islam -

I am sure you are aware of the controversy over the Western Civilization textbook in Volusia County Schools.

Please spread the word and ask anyone near our side of the state to try and attend this meeting. The Republican Party and some of Alan Hayes' hate group have gotten very involved in this textbook issue and are conducting planning meetings for a mass assault on this issue (over 100 were in Holly Hill last night). Their claims on equality are not true and have nothing to do with the issue, the issue is Islam. The sections of the book in question are on Muslim culture and civilization, not a study of Islam (the five pillars are covered, period). We need help stopping this spread of illness in its tracks. The book covers portions of Christian and Jewish issues in 23 chapters, Hinduism and other mainstream faiths are nearly left out.

Any support that can be given is appreciated, our local masjid in Debary is new and small and has already experienced some issues with the locals. We would appreciate any support you can throw our direction, or forward this to anyone you know that might be able to, in particular, be in attendance.

May Allah (swt) bless you for your efforts on behalf of stopping hate, and the rights of our brothers and sisters and their children to be taught the truth in the public schools.

 Volusia School Board meeting in regards to Islam in World History book that was canceled has been rescheduled for 4 p.m. Nov. 18,

Doors to the building will open at 3 p.m. and members of the public wishing to speak must fill out a comment card by 4:30 p.m. Each person will be given four minutes to speak.

The School Board meets at the Deland Administrative Complex, 200 N. Clara Ave., Deland.

So please attend this important meeting and speak for your rights
