Job Description

 

•           Analyzes, evaluates, modifies, configures tests and implements enterprise wide purchased systems (e.g. SAP, PeopleSoft, etc.) Prepares application system specifications. Plans,

implements and coordinates system upgrades, enhancements or maintenance. Tasks include installation, configuration and day-to- day administration associated with ensuring the smooth and

efficient operation of a WebSphere environment.

 

•           Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

 

•           Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and

considerable expenditure of resources. Daily responsibilities include: Install, configure, tune and support WebSphere Application Server

 

•           Working understanding of IBM BPM and ODM, Setup load balancing, clustering, and fail over, develop scripting for Monitoring, Configuration and Deployment, Assist application development and testing

teams, Work with Vendor Support to assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues (open service requests and follow up with Vendor Support),add and update support documentation.

 

•           Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts, in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines.

 

Required Skills:

 

•           Hands on experience in the installation, configuration, tuning/sizing, clustering, deployment and problem resolution of WebSphere Application Server. Ability to use or develop scripts to automate

maintenance, configuration changes, password changes, deployments and migrations of WebSphere Middleware components. Experience creating scripts (wsadmin, shell, Perl, ant, Python, Python).

Ability to perform administrative tasks, download and install iFixes, refresh packs and new version releases. Hands on experience with setting up security and SSL between various infrastructure systems.

 

•           Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.

 

•           Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, and practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.

 

•           Bachelor's degrees from an accredited Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering with 3-5 years of work experience in the job as a Systems Administrator or equivalent

experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree. Considered career, or journey, level. Very good knowledge of

 

•           LINUX fundamentals. Installation, Configuration and scripting skills. Understanding of distributed computing. Position requires a Public Trust background check.
