Title: IT R&D Business Data Analyst
Location: Sunnyvale, CA
Job Description:
General Position Summary/Purpose:
Client is seeking an IT R&D Business Data Analyst who will be responsible for developing relationships with R&D stakeholders, surfacing unmet business data analytics needs, and managing portfolios of IT deliverables. The individual will serve as a strategic IT liaison to the R&D organization and will translate their requirements into technical solutions and processes. The individual will be expected to actively gather requirements and communicate with Business Partners to assure their understanding of existing tools, projects, and future directions will meet their business needs. The individual will work with Business and IT Stakeholders to design, develop, test and maintain the R&D Data Warehouse and Reporting Solutions. The individual must have excellent Data Warehouse design skills, and excellent data integration and data analysis skills. The individual must be able to develop Business Intelligence reports and analytics using industry standard tools such as Tableau, SAP Business Objects, Spot fire, or other visualization tools.
Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:
· Lead the IT development of Business Intelligence solutions to meet the needs of the R&D Organization.
· Define, develop, and document the Business Intelligence requirements for R&D business units (Drug Discovery, Translational Medicine, Drug Safety, DMPK, Clinical Science, Clinical Operations, etc.) to fulfill Data Warehouse, Data Marts and Reporting/Analytics needs.
· Lead the data collection, data definition, design, and development of Requirements Specifications for the Data Warehouse, Data Marts, Reports, Analytics and KPI's.
· Lead the engagement with Partners and Data Service Providers delivering BI solutions to meet business needs.
· Participate in the technical review of DW design and reports with other IT teams and User Acceptance reviews with end-user audience.
· Actively involved in the Data Governance and maintenance of the Enterprise Customer Master.
· Interface with business and functional teams providing strong analytical and problem solving skills.
· Work closely with the IT platform leads to apply standards and evolve process to ensure solutions abide by best practices and industry principles.
· Review data to determine operational impacts and needed actions.
· Escalate issues, trends, areas for improvements, and opportunities to management.
· Draw out key business insights and provide actionable recommendations.
· Provide advanced analytical support for R&D business units.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· 7-10 years minimum experience in the Information Technology field.
· 5+ years of working in Bio-Tech/Bio-Pharmaceutical Industry supporting R&D business units to meet their Data and Reporting needs.
· 5+ years of hands-on experience with aspects of the Data Warehouse lifecycle including data analysis, modeling, design, and report building.
Strong SQL query skills.
· Experience with analyzing large data sets in a Bio-Tech/Bio-Pharmaceutical environment.
· Knowledge of Master Data Management, Data Warehousing Principles, and Data Governance.
· Strong knowledge of processes and applications related to Clinical Operations, Clinical Science, Drug Safety, etc. (e.g. Oracle Argus, BioClinica, EDC, SAS, etc.).
· Knowledge of procedures and best practices related to FDA, EMA, GxP, CFR21 Part 11, Computer System Validation, Sunshine Act, HCP Transparency Reporting, and other regulations governing drug development and commercialization.
· Experience with SOP authoring relative to R&D processes and applications.
· Ability to articulate complex technical problems and business value to a wide business audience.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to troubleshoot issues and work independently with minimal direction.
· Self-motivated with high degree of initiative and excellent follow-up skills, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Good documentation skills of design functional specifications, test scripts, and training documents.
· Bachelor's degree in business, computer science or related discipline.
