VB.Net Developer

Summary:

Develops, enhances, debugs, supports, maintains and tests software applications that support business units or supporting functions. These application program solutions may involve diverse development platforms, software, hardware, technologies and tools. Participates in the design, development and implementation of complex applications, often using new technologies. May provide technical direction and system architecture for individual initiatives. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource. Will not have direct reports but may lead projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. May have responsibility for a project and project budget. May collaborate with external programmers to coordinate delivery of software application. Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities.

Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants.

Typically requires 6-10 years of experience

Position summary and key responsibility:

 Interface with existing Business Analysts on design issues and possess negotiating and compromising skills

 Extract and define user requirements from business units and customers

 Design new processes where required and accept constructive criticism over design changes

 Identify where modifications to existing processes are required

 Possess the ability to code applications and tools from inception to implementation

 Provide optimum efficiency enhancements to existing tools

 Perform comprehensive testing and coordination with Team members and environment before implementation

 Be available on-call for break-fix situations

 Practice good stewardship regarding source code

 Provide weekly status of all projects

Required Skills:

 Windows development environment experience with Web applications and Windows applications.

 SQL Server Administration experience and database design principles.

 Ability to write detailed requirements, processes, & flow charts.

 Ability to work with multiple mentees, when required, and articulate application requirements to other Team members.

 Manage multiple priorities.

 Know how and when to be a Team player – design and architect when necessary, specify and flow when necessary, and code and test when necessary.

 Windows Operation System Working knowledge

 6++ years Windows 2012+ Server environment

 6++ years Solid Understanding of VB .NET/Management Studio

 6++ years C#

 6++ years (Optional) Java Script

 6++ years HTML

 6++ years Demonstrated ability in application design and enhancements

 6++ years SQL Server 2014/Management Studio

 6+ years Database design/normalization skills

 6+ years Problem solving skills

 6+ years Technical Application Design skills to leverage existing software

 6+ years Ability to understand performance implications during design and identify and suggest remediation options for poor performance characteristics post implementation

 The ability to communicate effectively (Verbally and Written) with the business and Teammates

 The ability to articulate previous examples of skills expertise (i.e. Web Development project details)

 Write detailed requirements, processes, & flow charts

 Think independently and take initiative from little or no requirements

 Possess solid understanding of iterative development life cycle (or agile)

 Programming fundamentals – modular design, documentation of code

 Database design fundamentals – normalization, data integrity, indexing

 Understand and leverage existing common code opportunities

 Understand how to identify and how to remediate performance issues
