Greetings,
The Global Perspectives Office is hosting an upcoming event that may be of interest to your organization.
The event, featuring Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Jody Williams, is titled “Banning Landmines: Disarmament, Citizen Diplomacy and Human Security.” It will take place in the Pegasus Ballroom of the UCF Student Union next Thursday, March 21, 2013, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. A flyer for the event is attached.
Jody Williams was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 for her work related to the banning and clearing of anti-personnel mines. Toward that effort, she served as the founding coordinator, chief strategist and spokesperson for the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. In 2004, she and sister Peace laureates took the lead in establishing the Nobel Women’s Initiative, which she chairs. Williams has written two books on landmines, as well as her memoir, My Name is Jody Williams: A Vermont Girl’s Winding Path to the Nobel Peace Prize, which is out this month.
If it is possible to distribute this information to your members, we would love to see them at the presentation.
Thank you so much and I hope to hear from you soon!
Sincerely,
Lauren Adair
