Data Warehouse ETL Developer
Location: Helena , MT
Duration: 9 Months+
Position Description:
Direct responsibility for the design, maintenance, and support of Data Warehouse Systems. The developer requires a high level of analytical and creative skills and an in-depth knowledge of database structure, data warehouse configuration, methodology, design, and modeling. The developer's typical duties includes but not limited to designing and building data warehouses, designing ETL architectures and procedures, performing analysis, SQL scripting, tuning and optimization on very large (multi-terabyte) databases, managing capacity planning and performance analysis, working with application developers to design and develop database objects and structures according to project specifications, addressing data quality issues with users, vendors and management, analyzing organizational data requirements and creating logical and physical Data Flow Diagrams and Entity Relationship Diagrams using tools such as Visio and Erwin. Must be able to work with and within a cross-functional development, QA and production team.
Skills Required:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
•Ensure developed ETL code conforms to specifications/design guidelines and is automated to run on a regular production schedule.
•Develop database objects, stored procedures, packages, views, tables, and triggers as needed.
•Assist in developing detailed design specifications based on business requirements and in converting design specifications into ETL programs.
•Develop, unit test and assist in user acceptance testing to ensure correct application of transformation logic from source to target using automated test scripts where possible.
•Work with other ETL Developers and Computer Operations to support test, QA, and production reporting environments including daily administration, batch processing, configuration management, change management, environment migration, and tool automation.
•Document all phases of work including requirements, system design, dataflow diagrams, and other technical specifications using current, specified design standards for new or revised solutions.
•Stay current on industry trends, events, and emerging technologies as they relate to ETL development.
Experience with SQL
Experience in programming (i.e. Cobol, ASP.net, VB.net, T-SQL, Visual Basic, etc)
