Data modeler is responsible for analyzing, developing and updating new and existing data models (conceptual, logical, and physical data models)
Responsibilities include:
· Conduct data design workshops with business stakeholders and application owners to capture the information needs of the business
· Create high level business information models and/or conceptual data models understandable by the business and application owners
· Design the logical data model consisting of entities, attributes and relationships between entities
· Validate final logical data model with the business community to ensure accuracy
· Collaborate with the database administrator for the design of the physical data model and performance tuning efforts
· Work with the data conversion and migration teams for planning and implementing related efforts
· Provide ongoing data model support throughout the implementation and testing phases to handle logical and physical data model changes that arise
· Work with other architects (enterprise, solution, data, information) to ensure compliance with applicable data standards
· Able to identify issues and improvements in the existing data models and work with the project managers and leads on the possible solutions.
· Minimum 5-7 years of experience with data modeling involving new and existing databases
· Strong ability to assess data requirements, existing data architectures, identify dependencies, issues and risks.
· Strong ability to initiate and complete tasks with little or no guidance.
· Strong oral and written communications skills
· Able to work with both technical and non-technical teams
