Re: {PBJFlorida} I won't grow up! A workshop in creativity

Maddie,
You always come up with something new and interesting and this is one more example. I thoroughly endorse the Peter Pan life and I'm glad your program will celebrate it. I will try to come.
But I had another purpose in writing. I have recently joined the League of Women Voters and they are a fine lot of uppity women. They organize and take on the biggest players. They have good programs. I wish you could join. I'm learning about different political systems on all levels, and I've met some amazing women.
Think about it!
xoxo, Penny

I CAN FLY!

What Artists Can Learn From The Lost Boy

"The most creative people I know have a Peter Pan like quality about them - they never totally grew up."
Jim Henson, Creator of The Muppets

For over 100 years, J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan has captured the imagination and hearts of young and old alike.  This learning experience is based on the premise that the story contains numerous "secrets" that can help poets, rappers, painters, songwriters, dancers, musicians, and other creative artists enhance their creative abilities.

What are the creative/artistic equivalents of "magic?" the Eternal Child? Flying? Neverland? Pixie Dust? A disdain for school and rules?
What does the metaphor of the clock ticking inside the crocodile mean for artists? How does Wendy's ability to nurture and tell stories relate to enhancing creativity?  Who is the Captain Hook in your world and how can you use him or her to fuel your creative fire?  How would your world change if you saw what lay ahead of you as an "adventure" rather than a "chore" (as Peter does)?
These and other questions will be explored in this unique, upbeat program.  We will learn through engaging group activities and group dialogue.  You will never be bored!

Who Should Attend?  Artist of all kinds and people who want to  help others value and enhance their creativity (parents, educators, youth leaders, therapists, coaches, mentors, etc.)

Presenter:  Timothy Rumsey is a story teller and community builder who has been studying secrets from the Peter Pan story for over 20 years.

Please bring: a photo of  yourself as a child (anywhere from 3 to 12 or 13)

When and Where:  Saturday, March 2 (from 1-4pm) at the Seminole County Library at 215 N. Oxford in  Casselberry. N. Oxford is right off SR 436, and the library is easy to find.

      Cost:  None
