Job Title: Java Developer
Duration: 6 months
Location: New York City

Skills: Hibernate, including Struts, Jackson, Jax RS, JUnit, mocking (JMock/Mokito), ore Java & J2EE, Spring, Spring MVC.

 

Job Description:

• Deliver business value based on agile best practices
• Work in one of the development teams to ensure software is designed / developed correctly and continually / automatically validated, and tested throughout the development lifecycle
• Take part in the team's ownership of the development code, process and change lifecycle, ensuring the platform is well maintained, issues are quickly resolved, and that its capabilities are continuously improved by the   team as a whole through a consistent agile approach
• Liaison with QA, Support, and other teams involved with testing, deploying, and maintaining environment applications, infrastructure and releases  

 

Qualifications
Minimum 5 years experience as a Java J2EE programmer
• Previous experience working on green-field applications
• Confident self-starter
• Good knowledge of core Java & J2EE, including Struts, Hibernate, Spring, SpringMVC, Junit, mocking (JMock/Mokito), Jax RS, Jackson, Jetty, WebSphere, Cucumber
• Highly desirable: JMS, WMQ, Domain Driven Design (DDD), REST
• Must have experience with Agile / eXtreme Programming project methodology and development teams
• Experience of using the Atlassian product suite is preferable (e.g. Rally, Mingle) or other Agile requirements management tools (e.g. Jira/Greenhopper)
• Excellent spoken and written English; clear oral communication skills
• Must be willing and able to express new ideas, concerns and opinions directly to the wider team in team meetings via teleconference
• Attention to detail and accuracy are essential
• Must be pro-active, enthusiastic, flexible, and results driven

Educational requirement: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, other technical discipline or equivalent experience  

 

Preferred Additional:
• Experience working with colleagues in other locations, especially offshore development colleagues in India & UK
• Previous experience in a financial environment (especially foreign exchange & international payments) is preferred, although not essential.
