Job Description (Overview of Role)

Position is for an Automation Engineer on the DevOps Team with experience in lifecycle automation. The DevOps service supports Consumer Bank application teams in a highly integrated, complex environment.

Automation Engineers are responsible for interfacing with the application development teams to assist them in determining the most efficient and value-added method of automating their application Lifecycle development activities that move their applications through the process to production implementation. In addition, to these consultative activities, the Automation Engineer will work with the application teams, technology partners, and all relevant teams to on-board the application team and their applications into the DevOps-Automation Service. They will lead onboard efforts and matrix teams of automation engineers. An engineer may also assume duties and roles related to Software Configuration Management and/or Development. In this capacity, they will work with version control systems, automated build systems, regression test systems along with many other lifecycle tools. They will develop, architect, integrate and support the integrated system and components.

Once on-boarding is completed, the Automation Engineer will maintain a partnership/working relationship with the application teams and partners to proactively modify and add workflows as appropriate to continue maximizing the value of the service to the application teams and the business clients they support. This person will proactively research, test and implement additional tools of value to the Automation Framework in support of the application teams and the DevOps-Systems team. This person, where appropriate, will lead efforts in process reengineering.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Strong strategic thinker and the proven ability to execute (ability to think strategically and lead matrix team and partners to implement and deliver)

·         Proven results in delivery against commitments

·         Significant experience with application development(Java and/or .Net) to best understand and convey the value of the service to the application teams(3+ years minimum)

·         Significant experience in creating as well as maintaining build scripts(2 years minimum)

·         Experience with UrbanCode products(Anthill Pro, uBuild, uDeploy) and automation configurations within the products.

·         Working knowledge/expertise with Maven/Nexus

·         Proven ability to manage and direct virtual teams

·         Excellent ability to communicate/present to all levels of the organization, including executive management

·         Extensive technical knowledge and experience to support the current DevOps Tools, automation activities and planning. This includes experience in Application Lifecycle Management Automation tools and integration using one or more of the following tools: IBM UrbanCode Build, IBM UrbanCode Deploy, IBM UrbanCode Release, Sonar, Subversion, Perforce, RTC, TFS, Jira, Quality Center, Rally Dev

·         Must have demonstrated track record of taking manually built / deployed applications and working with the application development teams to engineer a build/deploy process that is standardized, repeatable, and transparent.

·         Strong relationship management skills

·         Willing and able to work after hours and weekends when required to support multiple time zones.

Preferred Skills:

·         Experience administering/configuring IBM UrbanCode Suite of products in an enterprise level environment

·         IBM UrbanCode Build

·         IBM UrbanCode Deploy

·         IBM UrbanCode Release

·         Solid knowledge and understanding of Middleware technologies

·         Websphere

·         JBoss

·         IIS

·         Tomcat
