Job Title                          : Senior Project Manager

Job Location                   :  Los Angeles, CA

Start Date                       :  ASAP

Position End Date           :  June 30, 2018

 

1.Duties:

                                                       

1.1 Assists the Facilities Asset Development Director in the development of project scope and

coordination of architectural planning, design, funding, and development of school facilities.

1.2 Plans and coordinates the execution of pre-construction activities associated with the preparation

for the building of new schools and modernization projects.

1.3 Provides functional direction over pre-construction project schedules, cost control, dispute

resolution, and quality control.

1.4 Reviews pre-construction project status to monitor schedule and budget variances relative to

submitted schedules.

1.5 Assists in coordinating the pre-construction program activities and related work products of those

in other District branches and departments such as the Office of Environmental Health and

Safety, Real Estate, Community Outreach, School Management Services/ MPD and Maintenance

and Operations, Project Execution, Facilities Contracts, and Procurement.

1.6 Resolves pre-construction project issues by resolving differences of opinion, conflicts in

schedules, and disagreements over the most efficient approach to the plan and design of new

schools.

1.7 Reviews, recommends, and implements program and project level policy and procedural

innovations.

1.8 Coordinates with representatives from various utility and government agencies to obtain timely

action on successive phases of project completion.

1.9 Assesses bid specifications for District need and probability of completion within the specified

timeline.

1.10 Makes presentations to Board Members, District administrators, and representatives of public

agencies.

1.11 Reviews and verifies submitted applications for payment and performs overall fiscal management

of multiple design and construction projects.

1.12 Performs other duties as assigned

 

2. Minimum Requirements

 

Required Experience:

2.1 Fifteen years of full time paid-professional experience managing the facilities design, or the

planning and coordination of capital projects that included the overall design, contract

administration, cost estimating, and scheduling activities. Five years of experience with

educational facilities design, planning and construction.

 

Supervision:

2.2 General supervision is received from the Facilities Asset Development Director, or other higher

level administrator. General supervision is exercised over technical employees assigned to preconstruction

activities, such as planning and demographics, community outreach, design, site

acquisition, and the evaluation of environmental health and safety.

 

Additional Preferred Experience:

2.3 Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)

2.4 Experience with LEED and/or Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) projects

2.5 Experience with the Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes

2.6 Experience with construction management

 

Required Education:

2.7 Graduation from a recognized college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering,

Architecture, or Construction Management

OR

2.8 Graduation from a recognized college or university with a Bachelor's degree in any course AND a

Master's degree in Business/Public Administration; AND (Minimum of 4 of the 10 years above)

experience with the responsibility for preconstruction activities, architectural planning, design,

construction or development of major facilities AND a valid Construction Manager (CCM)

credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI). The CCM credential may

be temporarily waived by the District for a period of 6 months at which time the employee must

have secured the credential.

 

Preferred Licenses and Certificates:

2.9 A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California State Architectural Board or

Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors

2.10 A valid Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification

Institute (CMCI)

2.11 LEED Professional Accreditation
