returning to our daily activities it is a good time to start organizing
this fall's events. You can bring hope and dignity to your friends,
family and classmates by scheduling the Elect to End Hunger and Poverty

semester. If you are no longer a student consider organizing a
presentation at your local book store or cafe. His presentation and
short film about Africa is sure to inspire your community to take action
to end hunger and poverty by joining or starting your local Food Not
Bombs chapter.

Food prices are expected to increase this fall as droughts, floods and
the use of genetically engineered crops have devastated the harvest.
Millions of people are facing the choice between food or housing. Yet
over 40 percent of America's food is discarded as nearly half of all
people in the United States are struggling to survive. At the same time
leaders are threatening endless war and corporate domination of our
society. We are expected to watch our environment be destroyed for the
profit of a few. Many of our families have lost their homes. Bankers
continue to reap billions as our schools face cuts in classes and
essential programs as tuition continues to increase. Most of those
seeking your vote have turned their backs on this and other urgent
issues providing an opportunity for us to implement our own solutions.

You can take direct action to change these conditions by inviting your
community to participate in projects like Food Not Bombs. As soon as you
start school talk to the student leaders on campus and ask them to bring
Food Not Bombs co-founder Keith McHenry to your school. Your classmates
will be motivated to take action. Participation in your student
organization will increase. Your local Food Not Bombs chapter will
flourish. You will build lasting relationships with those you share food
with. Your community will experience the pride that comes from making a
