Job Description

 

Key skills : Minimum set of things to look for:

 

1)      Unix shell scripting, working experience on AIX/HP-UX/Sun Solaris or any other UNIX flavors. Linux is great but not a must

2)      Experience supporting applications in a J2EE environment (should understand performance/scalability issues, must be able to troubleshoot production problems, debug code, etc). Need not be a developer (though if we can sign up a developer to do this also will work)

3)      Experience handling databases (Oracle/My SQL/etc.). Working experience in Hadoop and/or Cassandra is great but not must.

4)      Good communication skills

 

Must Have Skills:

·         5 years of relevant work experience, including with Unix/Linux systems requiring the use of languages like Java

·         Strong debugging skills in Core Java      

·         Experience in J2EE, JAX-RS, Web Services

·         Technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience

·         4-5 years relevant work experience, including in a high-volume or critical production service environment

·         Experience in OSes and systems (e.g. UNIX internals, device drivers), open source tools (e.g. dtrace, ktrace), web service components (e.g. load balancing, LAMP stack), storage and clustering (e.g. column stores, Hadoop), scripting and programming languages

·         Experience in coordinating cross-team technical engineering initiatives

·         Experience with Big Data – Cassandra, Cloudera etc is a plus

Application Operations Engineering for CG team

 

Job Roles / Responsibilities:     

·          

·         Participate in an on-call rotation with the Application Operations teams during Season and non-Season periods. Lead incident management and troubleshooting efforts between various end-to-end teams for diagnosis of issues, and quick mitigation of customer impacting events.

·         ·         Coordinates post-outage root cause analysis with teams, recommends and drives process/tool/skillset improvement in relevant areas.

·         ·         Communicate with technical and non-technical audiences including senior management to provide regular updates on operational status.

·         ·         Creates Operational Best Practices driven from existing operational expertise, Reliability/Availability/Scalability thinking, and Root Cause Process outputs, to efficiently manage "always on" operations.

·         ·         Effectively partners with and drives change through cross-functional teams to inject HA requirements into applications, and facilitates smooth non-customer-impacting deployments to the production environment.

·         ·         Create technical documentation on applicable applications and operational tools/processes.

·         ·         Gathers metrics from multiple sources (Customer Experience Monitoring, Application Performance Monitoring, file systems logs, etc.), and can aggregate  and analyze data for better understanding of customer's experience & pain points
