The requirement is to develop a middleware that should work as an interface between Electronics Reader Board system (responsible for generating Walgreens Ad/other messages) and readerboard(s) present in stores. The development of middleware will require knowledge of serial port communication, acquaintance with device firmware present in readerboard, programming the readerboard controller and some knowledge of assembly programming. Walgreens wants the middleware to be developed in Java, therefore knowledge of Java along with the above stated primary skills would be an advantage
