Thank you Sr. Amira. I plan to go to Iftar next Monday. An invitation was sent to PBJF by Sr. Maisoon this week on this listserv.

Warm Regards,

AA Sister Matsuma, no, I had not seen this. This is sickening. It is fortunate it was not 15 min later or everyone would have been in the building for suhoor (prayer and breakfast prior to dawn and start of fast during Ramadan). Please don't let it be some group hateful over the donations, Joplin desperately needs them. One of the supervisors at the Home Depot there was killed saving a mother and her kids at our store there, getting them to safety and knowingly sacrificing himself.

You are right, also, Br. Miguel, that the community has done better than normal in speaking out after the incident in Wisconsin. It is sad that the Sikh community has suffered due to the misguided emotions of a few, on both sides. Most people do not know that there has been a large, healthy Sikh community in the Midwest, esp. Iowa, for over a 100 years. They came over as they are expert farmers and agricultural managers at the turn of the last century, and it as been a peaceful existence.

If anyone is planning on attending iftar (fast breaking supper) or any event at either AMCC, ISCF, or Jama, know they have all added security and stepped up safety issues to insure all attendees are safe as possible. As always, anyone is welcome at the iftar meals, you do not have to be a fasting Muslim. In fact, they welcome anyone willing to come and share and be open minded, and the meals are always wonderful.

Sr. Amira
