{PBJFlorida} Fwd: FW: Grassroots Petition Drive to Suspend FL Executions

Here's the message that Mark Eliot is sending around. What are you sending around to enlighten people to the injustices inherent in the Florida policy of Capital Punishment?

The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit, and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us.

Subject: Grassroots Petition Drive to Suspend FL Executions

This week a small group of thoughtful, determined citizens in Central Florida began a grassroots petition drive asking Gov. Scott to suspend executions in light of the record number of Death Row exonerations. This petition was begun  in memory of Joe DuRocher, who passed away in 2012. For many years, Joe was the elected Public Defender for Orange and Osceola Counties. This is an authentic grassroots petition drive and is off to a good start. As more signatures are gathered and incremental goals are reached, this petition will be promoted and distributed by it's e-petition drivers to vastly larger audiences. Please consider supporting this effort. I am. This is the message I have been putting up alongside it in social media and elsewhere:

Florida holds the national record for most innocent people freed from Death Row. Last month, Seth Penalver became number 24. Tell the governor to suspend executions to prevent the possible execution of other innocent people. This government program is broken. We need answers, not more executions.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
