Job Description:
Administers and controls an organization' data resources and provides documentation to management. This person has detailed knowledge of database design and implementation, uses data software packages to ensure data integrity, accuracy, accessibility, and security as well as recovers corrupted data and eliminates data redundancy. Performs database tasks for development/prod. projects, physical database design, 24x7 support, maintenance set-up, validation, data modeling review and performance tuning as needed. Maintains database dictionaries and integration of systems through database design. Helps analyze user applications and operational requirements. Responsible for overall physical database structure for assigned databases. Reviews database performance statistics and directs improvements. Maintains relationship with database management system vendor and implements upgrades. Directs team in identification of the information requirements of business processes and the interface with relational database designs.
The database engineer will have expert knowledge in the following areas; Sybase ASE, Sybase IQ, replication and MS SQL Server. In order to scale our systems, we are looking for someone who can work independently and are knowledgeable in the latest technology. The database engineer is responsible for the design and implementation to horizontally scale our environments. The role includes the development and design of database strategies, monitoring and improving database performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion requirements. They also plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard the database. Work directly with the Development and Production Support teams Configure and support Sybase replication for future growth , configure, and monitor numerous database instances Assist and review designs and optimization strategies of the database systems Administer and support a stable, reliable, and recoverable database platform Design the next generation of database infrastructure to meet the growing needs Work closely with key contributors to support new features and services Plan for database capacity limits and anticipate future database infrastructure needs
