Subject: Prisons

On Saturday May 18 from 2:00 to 4:30 there is a meeting at the Drury Inn on
West Sand Lake Rd (room 107) hosted by CURE- Citizens United for the
Rehabilitation of Errants.. www.curenational.org,

Charley and Pauline Sullivan, founders of this organization, now located in
Washington D.C., has chapters throughout the United States and many
International also.-

They point out in most recent newsletter that Florida has 100,272 prisoners
locked up in 60 prisons (August 2012) Many of these prisons are not
air-conditioned.
The recidivism rate of Florida prisoners is 30% (+ or -).
and there are 405 persons on death row.

These are only a few of the facts that point to necessary changes needed in
the Florida prison system.

Over the years there has been an earnest effort to establish and maintain a
CURE Chapter in Florida.

If you have an interest in the injustice system of this state please join me
to learn more about what can be done.

I urge you to visit the web site - www.curenational.org for more
information.

There is a larger 32nd national Convocation of Jail & Prison Minstry
this weekend called Building Bridges Not Walls hosted by Diocesan
Council of Orlando's Society of St. Vincent de Paul More info at
www.ncjpm.org

Sister Helen Prejean, author of the best selling Dead Man Walking will be
the keynote speaker at the end of this conference. The venue is Holy Family
Church, 5125 S. Apopka Vineland Rd. 7 P.M.on Tuesday, May 21.It is free and
open to the public.
