Position :SQL DBA
Location: Franklin OH
Duration: 6 months
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Work independently on database administration and database development activities including the design, development, implementation and maintenance of supported databases.
Participate in design sessions with application engineers and will work closely with systems analysts, who develop the business and software specifications for project objectives.
Work closely with IT to support physical database administration including performance management, security, installations, upgrades, patches, backup, recovery, space management, performance tuning and capacity planning.
Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications.
Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes.
Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.
Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
Train users and answer questions.
Specify users and user access levels for each segment of database.
Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems such as the installation of new databases.
Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information.
Experience and Qualifications:
4-7 years of practical experience using MS SQL Server in a production environment.
Experience participating in all phases of the software development life cycle (analysis, design, implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, release, and maintenance) is required.
Experienced in designing, implementing and maintaining SQL 2008 R2 databases and up.
Strong skills in all HA areas including replication, Always On, clustering, mirroring and log shipping.
Strong skills designing, developing and maintaining stored procedures, views, tables, T-SQL scripts, etc. as well as creating associated documentation.
Demonstrated skill in relational table design and applying optimized indexes.
Experienced in SSAS and SSRS development.
Experience with solving performance problems with execution plans, Database Tuning Advisor and SQL Profiler.
Experienced in monitoring, tuning and optimizing database performance
Strong skill in designing, developing and maintaining SSIS packages.
BA/BS degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
Education Requirements
- BA or BS degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
