{PBJFlorida} FW: A Special Invitation/Nelson Betancourt

                                                        MAY 1, 2014 EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

                                                               DIVEST FROM WALL STREET.
                                                               INVEST IN MAIN STREET.
PUBLIC MONEY SHOULD BE IN PUBLIC BANKS.

On May 1, 2014, you are cordially invited to a public presentation of "The ABCs of Public Banking" from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Quaker Meeting House, 316 East Marks St. Orlando, FL 32803 (directly across the street Lake Highland Prep School)

Public banking is banking in the public interest. It is not a retail bank. It is owned by the citizens of the county, city or state. It is an incredibly important innovation in public policy.

WHAT IF WE COULD...

--return full interest on our public tax deposits so that essential services can be expanded in our region without raising taxes?

--partner with and support community banks in putting loans where they belong, in sustainable, worthy job creating, local industries and small businesses?

--slash government debt service costs and pay what we owe to ourselves and not to speculators?

--redirect investment away from risky derivatives to real goods and services protecting the value of our savings and pensions?

--prop up local economies by increasing loans in times of economic downturn?

--reduce the cost of public projects (roads, bridges, stadiums, water facilities, energy plants ) by eliminating interest costs by as much as 37%?

This event is brought to you by the Peace & Social Concerns Committee (Quakers of Orlando),
Awakening/art & culture (dedicated to artistry, heritage, imagination and the public interest), and the
Public Banking Institute.

(The total viewing time is about 45 minutes. There will be a coffee break between part 1 and Part 2, with time for questions and answers at the end, a complete program that will last about one hour and a half.)
