Position Overview:
This position will be responsible for performing certification of releases for an existing business solution on the commercial service platform. Primary responsibilities involve closely collaborating with Comcast product engineering team, developers, vendors, operations engineers, test automation engineers and other cross functional test teams to support overall quality strategy. Candidate will ensure sufficient test coverage of business/technical requirements and will have various test and support responsibilities throughout the application/product/service releases as well as commercial platform upgrades.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Interpret acceptance criteria within Rally user stories to develop test cases; and execute test plan through system, integration and end to end test
• Actively engage in daily scrum meetings with engineering and development teams
• Prepare test suite and ensure appropriate test coverage based on scope of work and quality strategy
• Determine the requirements for applicable test tools/harnesses, test environment configuration, and test data
• Execute test cases, document test results, and publish daily status report for all stakeholders
• Open defects with a clear and concise description and work closely with developers to help pinpoint code defects or design/environment/architecture/configuration issues and perform root cause analysis
• Coordinate joint system testing with upstream and downstream partners as well as other test engineers
• Interface with Test Team Lead, Project Manager, and Product Engineers/Developers
• Leverage and support off shore team and validate any issues raised
• Support automation development for assigned Rally user stories to build/enhance the commercial automation framework and automation of test scenarios; existing development work is leveraging VSTS
• Support performance and load testing of WCF service to validate 3rd party vendor's new API; existing development work for functional scripts is leveraging VSTS
Skill Set/Job Requirements:
• Create and execute test plans and test cases using HP ALM
• Experience in developing test plans, executing test cases, tracking test progress, evaluating results, and triaging defects
• Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience working as a part of a scrum team
• Ability to access, read, and interpret application log files and event queues, write SQL queries, access LDAP directories
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with test engineers, product engineers, project managers, developers, business analysts, and operations teams
• Demonstrated flexibility to meet aggressive timelines generally associated with testing activities (including occasional off hours and weekend support)
• Needs to be able to independently create and execute test plans, analyze test results and be confident making decisions and providing recommendations for improvement
Hands-on testing experience preferred but general understanding of one or more of the following concepts:
• Microsoft Exchange 2007 and/or 2010, Active Directory, SQL Server, SPLUNK
• Email protocols (MAPI, IMAP, POP, SMTP) and/or email security, anti-abuse technologies
• Microsoft HMC (Hosted Messaging and Collaboration) technologies such as SharePoint, Lync, active sync, auto discover, etc.
• Web hosting, domain management, billing and data provisioning systems, order management, trouble ticket management, service assurance
• Testing and support for voice calling features, voicemail, call records
• Application testing and support on mobile device platforms such as iOS and Android
• SOAP UI, WCF/Web Service, API functional, automated, and performance testing and troubleshooting
• Automation/coding background in development of web sites, web applications, web services leveraging C, C#, .net and familiarity with HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS, etc
• Oracle / LDAP or any other DBA experience
• Performance testing experience (designed, built and executed performance tests for both browser and non-browser applications) as well as ability to analyze performance test results to identify the root cause of performance issues and bottlenecks, and provide recommendations for remediation
