Title: Sr. Software Engineer
Location: East Haven, CT
Duration: 12+ Months Contract
Education and Previous Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience in software development
• 8+ years of overall experience.
Knowledge & Skills:
• Required languages:
o 8+ years of experience in Core Java (including Generics),J2EE,
o 4+ years in hibernate and ANT.
o 5+ years of experience XML and XSLT
o 4+ years of experience in Unix shell scripting with BASH and KSH shell, AWK and GAWK
• Relational database:
o 4+ years of experience in Oracle/Postgres, database DML, DDL and co-ordination with DBA for monitoring database
• Required Operating Systems: 2+ years of experience in Unix, Linux environment (no GUI), all aspects of the programming, scripting, ability to work with ssh, vi/emacs
• Web servers:
o 4+ years of experience in Apache Tomcat
o 1+ years of experience in Apache HTTP server and its administration with the knowledge of cache, memory cache, rewrite and redirect rules;
• 3+ years of experience in source version tools SVN with deep knowledge of SVN external properties, branching and merging.
Other skills
• General knowledge of content transfer protocols and technologies - http(s), ftp, RSS, web services.
• Knowledge to create unit level tests using JUnit, and of test driven development in general.
• Development experience with Relational Databases (Oracle is a Must) and use of SQL.
• Write Efficient SQL queries and be familiar with Aggregations, Analytics and CLOBs i.e experience handling large volumes of data
• Write efficient PL/SQL code and should be well versed with PL SQL Debugging, Tracing and error handling
• Have a good knowledge of Query optimization and database tuning
• Knowledge of NoSQL is a Plus
• Skills in developing and leading high performing teams that demonstrate excellence in a dynamic fast-paced environment with a high degree of flexibility and accountability
• Strong technical acumen, interpersonal and communication skills including both oral and written proficiency
• Effectively balance and prioritize multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
• Ability to interact effectively within and across other teams including virtual teams.
