  • The Pharmaceutical Business Analysts' role is to collaborate with project stakeholders in the business community.  They document and support business needs and communicate those needs throughout each phase of a project. This includes interviewing stakeholders, eliciting, analyzing, specifying and validating various types of requirements, and communicating the requirements to solution and development teams throughout the software lifecycle. The Pharmaceutical Business Analyst will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help support the solution design and development process, and to ensure that project deliverables are met according to specifications.  The Pharmaceutical Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring IT understanding of requirements and serves as liaison between business and technology staff, identifying and resolving any gaps in understanding.
  • Pharmaceutical Business Analysts must demonstrate experience and aptitude for managing engagements of various sizes in large (500+ FTE), matrixed IT shops where they must balance stakeholders from the business, IT sustainment, IT architecture, PMO and release management.  They must be flexible and adept at integrating this personal experience with the execution of standard project methodology.  They are also invited to participate in the evolution of these methodologies and techniques.

 

As a Pharmaceutical Business Analyst your primary goals and focus will be:

  • Develop relationships in the organization and the business unit(s) supported and develop domain knowledge of organizational direction, objectives, operations, processes, systems/applications and users.
  • Perform analysis of the organization/business units(s) to identify opportunities and challenges and make recommendations for process and system improvements.
  • Collaborate with project managers and project sponsors to define project scope and vision and identify constraints, dependencies, assumptions, risks and issues.
  • Clearly identify project stakeholders and define user classes, as well as their characteristics.
  • Elicit business and user requirements via interviews, workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, user stories, process modeling, analysis of existing systems and documentation, and other methods.
  • Develop and utilize standard templates to accurately and concisely write requirements specifications.
  • Translate conceptual business and user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to solution designers and developers and/or the project team.
  • Facilitate and participate in quality peer reviews of requirement artifacts to ensure requirements are complete, consistent, comprehensible, feasible, and conform to standards.
  • Work with peers, stakeholders and project team to prioritize requirements and gain approval on defined requirements and artifacts, assisting with issue resolution.
  • Assist in conducting research on software and hardware products to meet agreed upon requirements and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Participate in the review of purchased solutions to ensure features and functions have been enabled and optimized.
  • Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to solution designers and developers and/or the project team.
  • Assist with the interpretation of requirements into feasible options, and communicate options to the stakeholders.
  • Where applicable assist solution designers in developing prototypes based on the user.
  • Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary.
  • Maintain and reconcile forward and backward traceability of requirements.
  • Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications of requirements according to the established process to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood. 
  • Validate test cases provide full coverage of requirements and participate in defect triage.
  • Support requirements throughout design, development, testing, implementation and transition phases.
  • Analyze implemented solutions to verify objectives were satisfied.

 

Desired Skills And Experience:

  • The ideal Pharmaceutical Business Analyst will possess the following:
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience. 
  • Competent to perform all responsibilities of the Business Analyst role on moderate to highly complex projects or across domains with little or no direction on day-to-day responsibilities and follows detailed instructions on new assignments.
  • Capable of facilitating negotiations to resolve issues.
  • Able to identify and map user experience to identify gaps against expectations.
  • Able to serve as the lead business analysis contact for a single project and may guide and advise less-experienced Business Analysts. 
  • Able to provide feedback to peers and partners within defined project processes and procedures; providing appropriate action
  • Capable of implementing process and structure and recommending opportunities for improvement.
  • Able to define approach for business analysis activities on small to medium sized projects, provide input to time and cost estimations for those activities, and understand project financials.
  • Has understanding and knowledge of Security/Compliance guidelines.
  • Experience using a requirements repository
  • Strong conceptual knowledge about the Pharmaceutical Business
  • Familiarity with IT Application Development and Maintenance processes
  • Familiarity of IT Infrastructure platforms and environments
  • Analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to define Business Cases, Project Scope and Objectives
  • Requirements Gathering and creating and writing complex and non-complex business requirement's documents
  • Requirements Analysis and Documentation
  • Communicating and confirming requirements obtained during discovery and elicitation phases
  • Experience with Solution design
  • Facilitating and/or supporting testing activities to ensure system capabilities are aligned with documented requirements.
  • We are looking for candidates who have 3 years + of business analysis experience, ideally with a CCBA or CBAP certification.
