Sr. Mainframe Systems Programmer

Owings Mills MD 

Contract- 12 months 

Responsibilities:

• Design and configure mainframe and supporting systems tmeet or exceed systems availability targets. 
  
• Install, maintain and support the z/OS Mainframe Operating System and / or any other assigned system software. Monitor and tune tensure acceptable levels of performance and resource utilization. Ensure software is utilizing all appropriate functions and features. Provide timely and accurate reporting on performance, utilization and feature use as requested.
  
• Maintain expert level knowledge in several of the following support areas:
  
• z/OS Operating System
  
• DB2 Database Systems 
  
• DB2 Database tools: Optim, Recovery Expert, DB2 Utility Suite, DB2 Administrative Tool, BMC DB2 Tool Suite (or equivalent)
  
• CICS Transaction Server and z/OS Unix for CICS WebService infrastructure
  
• WebSphere MQ 
  
• COBOL
  
• IMS
  
• ASG's TMON performance management product suite
  
• Computer Associates(CA) Mainframe toolsets including CA1, CA7, TPX Easytrieve, OPS/MVS, Vantage
  
• Compuware's development tools and performance management tools
  
• SAS Language and Excel Visual Basic for Applications for Performance Analysis and Capacity Planning
  
• Assembler language tsupport z/OS, CICS and WebSphere MQ exits
  
• IBM and EMC Enterprise Storage Systems
  
• Ability tinstall and/or patch software with SMP/E
  
• Fluent in TSO, ISPF, JCL and JES2
  
• Knowledgeable in the Mainframe Security product Resource Access Control Facility (RACF)
  
• Provide 24x7 on call support for all Mainframe infrastructure and systems software
  
• Use available resources tresearch, resolve and/or recommend solutions for complex and critical systems, escalating when necessary
  
• Adhere tstandard Service Level Agreements (SLA) for day-to-day support 
  
• Ensure that change management process is properly followed for environment changes
  
• Provide excellent customer service tall customers, both internal and external
  
• Exhibit professionalism when working with and communicating with our customers and vendors
  
• Act as an interface tmembers of the IT infrastructure team, keeping management and peers informed, and disseminating information as needed
  
• Ensure all work complies with established policies, standards, licensing agreements and configuration guidelines
  
• Effectively lead complex technical projects timplement major releases or create new environments as necessary
  
• Properly follow a project life cycle
  
• Develop project plans
  
• Complete all appropriate documentation and notifications in order tobtain completion within the established timeframes without impact

Requirements: 

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  
• A minimum of 5 years professional experience in software quality assurance or equivalent. 
  
• Should have approximately 7 t10 years of dedicated project management experience. 
  
• Experience in the implementation of a contracting system for the management of procurement processes. 
  
• Experience in leading complex projects. 
  
• Core competencies include: Cobol, VSAM, IMS, CICS, MF, Cobol etc. 
  
• 5+ years of experience in mainframes with strong PL/1, DB2 & IMS knowledge. 
  
• Development experience in PL/I, preferably in the last 2 years. 
  
• Good communication skills and should be able tlead a team of 3-4 resources. 
  
• Must have experience debugging and fixing issues on PL/1 and DB2. 
  
• Should be able thandle PL1dumps. 
  
• CICS, Cobol, DB2 REXX, VSAM, JCL, TSO, IBM OS/390, Z/OS, Vision: Results (DYL280) required.
