Job Role: DevOps Engineer with Unix/Linux & Puppet

Location: San Francisco, CA 94105

Duration: 6+ Months

INTERVIEW PROCESS: PHONE SCREEN AND IN-PERSON INTERVIEW MUST - LOCAL CONSULTANT ONLY OR WHO CAN COME FOR FACE-TO-FACE INTERVIEW AT HIS/HER OWN COST

 

High Level requirements:

1.       Maintain and support all process requirements for OS/middleware patching, access requests, Puppet Blueprint Patch updates, Lab server management, production support

2.       Create and keep current all SharePoint documentation on lab management details for servers, projects, and knowledge base

3.       Excellent communication skills, will be working with people in person, over the phone, or via IM/Email.

4.       Excellent troubleshooting skills

5.       Puppet / Ruby / Python, Ruby, Shell scripting skills

6.       Hadoop Administration + scripting abilities with various portions of the Hadoop ecosystem. Pig, Hive, Hbase, etc.

7.       Excellent UNIX level system administration skills

8.       Excellent middleware level skills (Tomcat preferred) - Other software will be learned on site

9.       Ability to attend training for new software/infrastructure on demand

10.   Experience with GIT and SVN are required. (Source control)

 

Skill details:

1.       Experience supporting applications that are built on any of Unix/Linux flavors.

2.       On the server side - Unix/Linux (Red Hat preferred experience)

3.       Desirable but not necessary experience with - Windows .NET and IIS, SQL Server 2008/2012 experience, Powershell

4.       Web Server - Absolutely necessary Tomcat configuration experience (any middleware works like WebLogic/JBoss …, if has tomcat that will be great)

5.       DB Side - Oracle or MySQL installation / configuration / Troubleshooting experience

6.       Version control setup and configuration experience necessary – SVN and GIT are required

7.       Networking - Knowledge about how F5/ASM/Networking/SSL certs works

8.       Knowledge of any job scheduling tool needed - Autosys would be ideal but can be learnt if proficient with Scheduling tool knowledge

9.       Any Shell scripting language would be required (Macros, Python, Perl, SHELL, Ruby)

10.   Must be very good on Process, good understanding of practical knowledge of SDLC (software development life cycle)

11.   Preferably previous WF technology experience, especially with internal systems, ART, SR, Pac2k, all must be certified

12.   Experience with editing puppet blueprints on an openstack platform.
