Job title: DW Data Architect/Modeler

Location: Atlanta/Chicago/San Francisco/St. Louis Preferred or Anywhere (50% travel) Rest 50% work from home. Expense Paid on 50% travel

Duration: Long Term

 

Responsibilities:

·         Co-lead the gathering of functional requirements and the functional design process for a new Enterprise Data Warehouse with Business Analysts and client end users.

·         Collaborate with business, application, solution, and technical architects to design data architectures that maximize the value of information across the organization.

·         Architect solutions that seamlessly work throughout a dynamic environment.

·         Develop a thorough understanding of the data definitions, domain values, data relationships, business rules, sources and data integration for each subject area.

·         Partner with Business Analysts to complete data analysis, data profiling and data sourcing decisions.

·         Produce all conceptual, logical and physical data models and semantic views across EDW staging, normalized & star schema/cube layers.

·         Own the Enterprise Data Warehouse logical model and ERD "" you are the lead across the entire company and platform! Be comfortable in this key role.

·         Define, design, and oversee implementation of standards and best practices involved in modeling, describing data entities and relationships, as well as supporting metadata for both logical and physical architectures.

·         Be a scrutinizing sleuth. Architect solutions that seamlessly work throughout a dynamic environment.

·         Coordinate the data modeling and data quality strategy & design with our master data management (MDM) team.

·         Interact closely with Business Analysis team, ETL team and BI Reporting teams to ensure understanding of proper use of data architecture. Conduct data model and data architecture design review sessions.

·         Support business analysts and developers with data subject expertise, query building and optimization.

·         Participate in agile development "sprints"? to review and prioritize backlogs, identify and resolve impediments, plan.

 

Qualifications:

·         BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

·         Strong data analysis and data profiling skills, as well as prior experience with data profiling tools such as InfoSphere Information Analyzer (preferred) or similar is required.

·         Strong knowledge of principles, techniques, and best practices of enterprise data model and dimensional data model.

·         Prior experience with modeling tools such as InfoSphere Data Architect (preferred), CA Erwin or similar is required.

·         Strong Skills in Relational Database including database design & expert advanced SQL writing.

 

Strong database background and certifications with experience in at least three of the following databases:

·         PostgresSQL - Professional & Master Certification Desired, Paraccel, Teradata, Netezza, MySQL, Oracle Databases, Actian, NoSQL "" Hbase, MongoDB, CouchDB, etc.

·         5+ years" experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS) RedShift (preferred) or similar MPP platform like Teradata, Netezza and experience with optimizing columnar database technology (eg. Paraccel).

·         12+ years" experience in lead role of data architecture in multi-terabyte enterprise data warehouse environments through full project life cycle.

·         12+ years" experience designing logical and physical architectures for data warehousing solutions.

·         It would be awesome if you were a Certified Teradata Master.

·         Experience and very comfortable working in a fast-paced Agile development methodology in a data warehouse environment.

·         Industry familiarity of Energy or Project-Based Construction logical data models a plus.

·         Strong analytical thinker with the ability to analyze data and present key findings/recommendations.

·         This is a customer-facing role. You need to think quickly, have presentation skills, tactfully handle client concerns, and clearly communicate at all levels.

·         Someone who is not intimidated by challenges, even thriving under pressure, is passionate about their craft, and hyper-focused on delivering excellence.

·         Readiness to travel Up to 4 days a week (home on weekends-based on project requirements).

·         English: Fluent. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
