Controls Software Engineer,Houston,TX
 
 Position:Controls Software Engineer
Location : Houston , TX
Duration: 1 Year
 
Daily duties/tasks:
  • Be responsible for software development and maintenance of modules, systems and their networks
  • Analyze user needs to design and code
  • Program Mark VIe ToolboxST & Cimplicity applications, components and interfaces
  • Work closely with the business unit to ensure application development meets product specification requirements
  • Work closely with other engineering teams, partners and vendors to ensure inter-operability and reuse
  • Design, implement and test software, ensuring quality specifications are met
  • Participate actively in design and code reviews
  • Drive performance and reliability enhancements
  • Have close interaction with customers to drive requirements and customer satisfaction
  • Interpret requirements and design specification materials in order to properly implement required Blow-out Preventer Control System product features.
  • Document software via formal design documentation
  • Develop high-quality source code that conforms to software development standards.
 
 
Desired Characteristics – Preference given to applicants with the following experience:
·         Exposure to Siemens, Allen Bradley, and/or Client Mark VIe products and software including Step 7, Cimplicity, or ToolboxST 
  • Background in industrial control system design and software applications for HMIs, PLCs, and DCS systems including communication protocols e.g OPC, Modbus, Ethernet, Profinet
  • Additional experience with code-writing in a variety of programming languages
  • Background with Database Design and Development with DBMS's such as MS SQL / Access / SQLite / Oracle
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in software design and development (school projects and internships are acceptable)
·         Knowledge of software design patterns and principles
·         Experience working with Agile software development methodologies (Scrum, XP)
·         Ability to work under minimal supervision
·         High energy, results driven person with strong interpersonal skills
·         Strong communication skills and the ability to interface with engineering managers with confidence and clarity
