Bravo Miguel for being part of this important work. I saw Tomas Lara at LWVF meeting and we spoke briefly about the cause. He has been such a leader over the years and now you are working with him. Very good! Thank you for your service.

April 2013 Dear Abolitionists,
We've had a lot of exciting developments in the past month.
On March 8, I was honored to speak at the state-wide DCF Symposium on Human Trafficking and the Safe Harbor Bill. My presentation was on How to Create a Collaborative Task Force in a Region.
It's been amazing to train up abolitionists from Seminole College and Emory University. The time we spend with these young people light fires within their lives to go forth and continue fighting modern-day slavery.
We're happy to announce the launching of our Abolitionist Prayer Center, where groups from around the city meet regularly to come together and pray for the issues of human trafficking and God's justice. Current prayer times are listed below, and the address is Westmonte Plaza, 195 S. Westmonte Dr., Suite 1132, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
FA assisted a 14-year-old sex trafficking survivor this past month by facilitating agencies that provided items for the survivor's recovery and restoration. We love these victories!
Sincerely,
Tomas J. Lares
Executive Director, Florida Abolitionist

MARCH HIGHLIGHTS
College Student Training as Modern-Day Abolitionists
We had great training days at the FA office with groups of Seminole College and Emory University students. They received education about modern-day slavery, received hands on experience doing various outreach activities, and had the opportunity to meet some of our great staff members!

DCF Symposium
It was an incredible opportunity to be involved in the state-wide Symposium on Human Trafficking and the Safe Harbor Act. On June 12, 2012, Gov. Scott signed two important pieces of legislation which will help tremendously in our efforts to coordinate effective responses to meet the needs of exploited children. This event was open to all agencies that are in contact with the victims of Human Trafficking. FA Director Tomas Lares spoke on The Importance of Strategic Collaboration Amongst Stakeholders.
Prayer Guide Fundraiser Launch
Our own lead ambassador, Nick Canuso, has completed writing Land of the Free: A Prayer Guide to End Modern Slavery in America. We are helping raise funds for the publishing and printing of this vital tool. The expected release date is May 4th, so time is of the essence; please pledge today! Click over to Nick's GoFundMe campaign and make a difference in fighting Human Trafficking!
