Have them focus on these skills/experience:

 

·         Sound knowledge of MS SQL 2008/r2 (includes disk provisioning and RAID)

·         Migrating from MS SQL 2005 to 2008

·         Migrating form MS SQL 2008 to 2012

·         Using VMWare vSphere or Hyper V to perform administration
