Hi Everyone,

I know this is very short notice but after the meeting yesterday I received an invitation from Sue Thompson with the Global Peace Network for an event happening tomorrow.  It's a Peace Panel at 630pm at the Winter Park Community Center (721 W New England Ave).  Guest speakers include, Dr Stephen Day, Nelson Betancourt, Allie Braswell, Huseyin Peker, Iron Eagle Joe, Pastor Rusty Belcher….and me. J  In addition, special guests Tariq, Sam & Suha Abu Khdeir will be there.  You may remember that Tariq Abu Khdeir was the young man from Tampa who was visiting family in Gaza this summer and was beaten and detained by Israeli police.  (Check out the story here… http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/caught-tape-us-teen-tariq-abu-khdeir-allegedly-24449873).

Also, many of you may remember that the village of Nabi Saleh was a featured "Community at Risk" for the 2013 Write 4 Rights campaign last December.  Well, Bassem Tamimi, from Nabi Sahel, will be here at the event on Wednesday as well!  He and his wife Nariman help to organize weekly demonstrations against the Israeli settlements.  Bassem has been arrested a number of times for his participation in the demonstrations and has served time in prison.  He has been designated a "prisoner of conscience" by Amnesty International.  This is a very rare opportunity to get to meet and speak to one of the many Amnesty International POCs.

Again, I know this is short notice but it will be great if we (Orlando Chapter 519) could have a strong presence at the event.  Also, please share this invitation with your network of activists.  The event is free and open to the public.

See you all tomorrow!!
