Dear Friends,
As the hunger strike at Guantanamo reaches 2 months and indefinite detention continues after 11 years, you can join Amnesty and other groups on April 11 in urging President Obama to keep his promise to close the detention facility.
Here are the details:
April 11 Day of Action Against Guantanamo
> Organize a local demonstration against Guantanamo in a busy place on campus or in your town. We'll help you alert local media and can send you orange jumpsuits. If you're in the NYC area, an event is already planned - email me for details.
> Call the White House comment line at 202.456.1111 or switchboard at 202.456.1414 and say you want President Obama to:
- Keep his promise and close Guantanamo
- Ensure the men are either charged and fairly tried in civilian court or released
- Appoint an individual within the White House to lead the closure effort
- You can also e-mail the White House from www.whitehouse.gov/contact
>Tweet @BarackObama @WhiteHouse Keep your promise: close #Guantanamo
> Share this email and the Facebook event page at www.facebook.com/swhrcampaign
> Let me know if you take action and send photos!
